Mokume gane is a technique that was developed in the 17th century in Japan as a means of adding decorative elements to swords and other edged weapons.  “Mokume gane” literally means “wood grain” and the techniques are intended to suggest wood patterns in metal.

The traditional process is very difficult and requires highly skilled metal working abilities.   It is very exciting to be able to emmulate this processes in metal clay.
